Don’t forget! Tryouts May 14th

Just a friendly reminder tryouts for the 2015-2016 Yorba Linda HS Dance Company will be held tomorrow (Thursday, May 14th) from 4:00-7:00pm in the small gym at the high school.  All YLHS students who plan to audition for Dance Company should have already turned in a completed clearance packet and physical (signed by your doctor) to Mrs. Roberts in the high school office (Note: returners are fine and can use the one from earlier this year).  Please see this flyer for more information.  We look forward to seeing you there!

The YLHS Dance Show is this week!

Performances are this Thursday May 7th, Friday May 8th, and Saturday May 9th at 7:00pm in the YLHS Forum. Tickets are available for $8.00 (pre-sale) from Ms. Maes and $10.00 at the door. You can also place an order for a DVD of the show for only $20.00. Please come and celebrate with us as we close out the year showcasing our dedicated and talented Mustang dance company and dance class students!

Calling all Mustang students! Auditions for the 2015-2016 Yorba Linda HS Dance Company will be held on Thursday, May 14th from 4:00-7:00pm in the small gym at the high school. If you’re new to YLHS, click here for a map and address. Please note: there will also be a mandatory meeting for all 2015-2016 dance company members and parents following tryouts (date TBD).

All YLHS students who plan to audition for Dance Company must fill out a “modified” clearance packet and have a completed physical (signed by your doctor) turned in by May 13th to Mrs. Roberts in the high school office.  Returners are fine and can use the one from earlier this year. Please see this flyer for more information.  We look forward to seeing you there!

PTSA Reflections Contest – Dance Category Awards

Dance Company entries placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in this year’s YLHS PTSA Reflections contest (“The world would be a better place if …”) dance category. Congratulations to Cheyenne Kotick, Kyra Stevens, and Mya Kough! Their three entries also advanced to the PYL Unified Council level (results to be announced this Saturday at the Council Reflections Gallery & Awards ceremony). Way to go, ladies!

Dance Festival February 13th!

Friday, February 13th is our first Festival! The show is called “And We Danced.” We are celebrating the LOVE of dance from all over the dance community. Several studios and high schools have been invited to perform – this year we will have Brea Olinda High School, Buena Park High School, Villa Park High School, The Dance Spot and Yorba Linda Middle School as our guest artists. There are 17 numbers in the show with YLHS Dance Company performing 3 dances chosen from our Fall show.

Here is a schedule of events:

  • 3:00pm-5:00pm – All groups will perform in a mini-concert/tech rehearsal
  • 5:00pm-6:00pm – BBQ tailgate
  • 6:00pm – Call time/warm up
  • 7:00pm – Showtime!

Jamie Kough has been so kind to organize our BBQ tailgate (before the show) to continue the theme of LOVE and celebrate everyone coming together. If you have any questions regarding the BBQ, please click here to email Jamie.

Tickets will go on sale next week – $8.00 pre-sale and $10.00 at the door (per person). Invite all of your family and friends to come celebrate and enjoy our exciting community Dance Festival!

Battle of the Sexes Rally this Friday!

Hi, everyone! Just a reminder this Friday, January 16th, is the YLHS Battle of the Sexes rally. The girls have been working on an amazing performance – please come to show your support and wear your Dance Co apparel! There are two performances: Rally A begins at 8:51am, and Rally B begins at 9:47am. Dance Company will be the first performance at each rally. Go Mustangs!
